Bags? ✔ Dark circles? ✔ Puffy eyes? ✔ HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM. Looking to get rid of that worn-out, and overall unwell appearance? Follow along and say au revoir to pesky under-eyes.
- Check your diet.
The first step is to make sure you’re incorporating nutritious anti-inflammatory foods in your daily diet. Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats will bring out visible skin improvements around the eye area.
- Vitamin C
In your quest to eliminate dark circles, vitamin C will be your best friend. Vitamin C is the most straightforward brightening ingredient out there, we highly recommend using vitamin C based eye pads, or serums such as ORANGE from NR Beauty’s skincare line.
- Cold Compression therapy
A cold compress for puffy swelling under-eyes will of course work fantastic. However, it can also help with eliminating dark circles by shrinking dilated blood vessels. Use your ice pack, jade roller, or simply grab some ice cubes and get rid of those heinous under-eyes once and for all.
- Fake it till you make it
Nothing like good old makeup. But don’t just pop on your everyday go to concealer, in order to minimize dark circles, color correction is key. Take a thorough look at the hues you’re trying to conceal. If you see dark blue/gray colors apply a warm peachy corrector first. However, if you see more pink/red tones then you need to counteract them with a yellow or slightly green based corrector. After layering the color corrector on first, then you may apply your skin-matching concealer or foundation.
We hate to state the obvious but bad sleeping habits are one of the main causes of dark under-eyes. Lack of sleep intensifies dryness, making the skin under your eyes appear thinner…and well thinner skin = visible blood cells. We recommend getting your full 7-9 hours of beauty sleep and laying on your back with your head slightly elevated to help minimize the chance of dark circles and puffiness.
