MY SUNLESS “TANNING” EXPERIENCE WITH DHA SPRAY

HELLO, HELLO

Today I want to talk about my experience with spray tan. I got it done for the first time ever last week and I wanted to share with you guys how it works, pros and cons and my personal opinion on the matter.

WHY DID I DO IT?

I know that my skin tone is very pale, however, I’m completely comfortable with and have learned to embrace it. I protect myself from the sun as much as I can, because we all know the damage overexposure to UV rays can bring to our skin.

Nonetheless, a friend’s birthday was coming up and she was going to throw a beach party. So my whole crew decided it would be a great idea to go spray tanning. As a skincare freak, I started to research about the subject and came across DHA spray, an all natural bronzing product.

WHAT IS DHA SPRAY?

DHA is a colorless chemical derived from glycerin, that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change. Additionally, this sunless tanner is not absorbed through the skin and it has no known toxicity or allergens.

WHAT DID I LIKE ABOUT IT?

  •
  • It only takes 5 to 7 minutes to apply
  • It reduces the appearance of cellulite!
  • It makes the skin look shiny
  • It gives your legs a tonified appearance
  • It makes you look great in photos
  • It doesn’t stain sheets nor clothes.

CONS

  • I had to wait 8 hours for the spray to dry.
  • As it dries, a not very pleasant smell comes out (once you bathe it goes away).
  • As the days go by, the  dead skin cells will start to shred and the tan will start to fade. This may leave some areas of your body darker than others until the spray tan has completely worn off.

WHO SHOULD APPLY DHA SPRAY?

  • Those who love the sun and want to alway look tan, without putting your skin at risk.
  • Swimsuit models or anyone who constantly takes pictures at the beach.
  • To those who want to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?

Of course! It wouldn’t be something I do regularly, just because I’ve grown accustomed to my natural skin tone as I mentioned before, but I would love to get it done for special occasions like a beach wedding.
